Initially, this had been envisaged as a sad bus queue with all the labels hanging around the necks of the old people. But a sudden inspiration occured and the dispirited queue transformed into a rebellious group who refused to be so negatively categorised.  They chucked off their mean-spirited labels and celebrated their maturity.

‘The Age of Enlightenment’ was a commission from The Arts Council together with The Devon Guild and Baring Foundation for an artist aged over 70 to explore issues surrounding the ageing process. Research and development workshops threw up all the negative connotations of ageing before the catharsis gave way to more positive ideas from the groups.
