The Age of Enlightenment exhibition completes it’s tour of the South West in the New Year. The body of work exploring age and ageing will be at the Royal United Hospital in Bath from 19 January to 28 April 2017.
The body of work was created in response to a series of research and development workshops. Participants were taught wood engraving by Hilary Paynter and discussed both the positive and negative aspects of ageing. There were so many rich ideas discussed that Hilary had more material than she could use. Many of the thoughts and feelings have been interpreted into this strong body of work by an artist working in her 70s.
The commission came from the Baring Foundation’s Late Stage award and the Arts Council. The exhibition and workshops were organised in conjunction with the Devon Guild of Craftsmen and DAISI.
All work is for sale and includes work and a film by local artist, Leonie Bradley.
